This classic high-set Queenslander had seen decades of neglect. Queensland's relentless sun and humidity had done a number on the exterior — the weatherboards were heavily chalked, cracked and peeling, with paint failure right down to bare timber across large sections of the home. Rob reached out to Prime Time Painting wanting to restore his cherished character home properly, without cutting corners.
Preparation was the defining part of this job. Our team spent several days power washing the entire exterior, followed by extensive hand scraping, sanding and spot priming of every affected area. On a home with this level of paint failure, surface prep is everything — it's the difference between a finish that lasts and one that peels again within a year. We repaired and treated damaged timber sections throughout before applying a full oil-based primer coat to the weatherboards, locking everything down and creating the ideal base for the topcoats.
For colour, Rob went bold — a deep navy blue on the weatherboards that suits the home's traditional architecture perfectly. The arches, balustrades, railings, window frames and trims were kept crisp white, creating that classic Queensland character contrast that makes a home like this truly stand out. Two full topcoats of premium exterior acrylic went on over the primer, giving maximum UV protection and durability for the years ahead.
The transformation speaks for itself. What was a tired, peeling exterior is now one of the most eye-catching homes on the street — and more importantly, the timber is properly protected against the elements with a finish built to go the distance.

Prime Time Painting did an incredible job on our Queenslander. The preparation work alone was impressive — they didn't cut a single corner, and you can really tell the difference in the final result. The navy blue looks absolutely stunning and we've had so many compliments from the neighbours already. Couldn't be happier.
